How do I order a cake? Start with the Cake Finder to tell me about your cake, including the date, number of portions and design style. Once submitted, I’ll review your request personally and confirm availability before your order is accepted.
How far in advance should I order? As each cake is individually designed and made by hand, I recommend getting in touch as early as possible. Availability is limited, particularly during busy periods and for wedding cakes. You can check your date through the Cake Finder before submitting your request.
Do you offer cake tastings? For wedding cakes, sample boxes are available for £30, including UK delivery. Each box includes your choice of four flavours to enjoy at home. If you go ahead with your wedding cake order, 50% of the sample box cost will be credited towards your final cake.
What flavours do you offer? My core flavours include Vanilla, Lemon, Coffee & Walnut, Chocolate and Red Velvet. Chocolate cakes can be paired with Dark Chocolate Ganache, Milk Chocolate Ganache or Sea Salt Caramel. Available options may vary depending on the cake design and dietary requirements.
Do you offer gluten-free or vegan cakes? Yes, gluten-free and vegan options are available for selected cakes. Please mention any dietary requirements when making your enquiry. My kitchen handles nuts, gluten and other allergens, so I cannot guarantee that any cake is completely free from traces of allergens. For severe allergies, I recommend using a specialist allergy-safe bakery.
How much will my cake cost? Every bespoke cake is individually priced according to its size, design and level of decoration. The Cake Finder will guide you through the main options and give you an indication of price before you submit your request. The final price will be confirmed after I have reviewed your enquiry.
Can you recreate a cake from a photo? Inspiration photos are very welcome and are a useful way to show me the style, colours and details you like. I do not copy another cake artist’s work exactly, but I can use your inspiration to create an original design especially for you.
Can you create a completely original design? Absolutely. You can share your ideas, colours, venue details, flowers, invitations or mood board through the Cake Finder. I can then develop these into an original cake design created specifically for your celebration.
Do you offer consultations? Most consultations are carried out online, allowing us to discuss your cake conveniently through messages, images and design references. For larger or more complex commissions, an in-person or venue consultation may be arranged when necessary
Do you deliver cakes? Yes. Delivery can be arranged depending on the location, cake size and design. Larger and tiered cakes may require professional delivery and set-up at the venue. Delivery charges are quoted separately according to distance and requirements.
Do you make wedding cakes? Yes. Wedding cakes are a major part of Maki’s Cakes, from understated designs to elaborate multi-tiered cakes. You can begin with the Cake Finder to explore portions, design direction and other details before submitting your enquiry.
How do I secure my booking? Once I have reviewed your enquiry and confirmed that I can accept the order, you will receive your booking details and payment instructions. Your date is only secured once the required payment has been received. Booking and payment deadlines will be clearly stated with your quotation.
Can I change my design after booking? Minor changes may usually be possible if enough notice is given. Significant changes to the size, design or decoration may affect the price and will depend on the time available before your event.
Can I collect my cake? Collection may be available for suitable cakes from Maki’s Cakes in Chertsey, Surrey. For larger, delicate or tiered cakes, professional delivery may be recommended to ensure the cake arrives safely.
